AI workflow
How to use AI for LinkedIn posts without sounding like AI
· 7 min read · Dave Banerjee
Readers can spot a generated post in a second and a half, and it costs you credibility with exactly the people you're trying to reach. That's not an argument against using AI — it's an argument against publishing its first draft.
Use AI where it's genuinely better than you
- Finding which angles on your topic already earned attention.
- Producing eight opening lines so you can throw away seven.
- Restructuring something you already wrote into a tighter format.
- Compressing 400 rambling words into 150 sharp ones.
- Drafting replies to comments so you actually answer all of them.
Don't use it for the part that makes the post yours
The specific number, the client moment, the decision you regret, the thing you believe that your industry doesn't — a model can't invent these, and when it tries you get the smooth, unfalsifiable prose everyone recognises.
A workflow that keeps your voice
- Start from evidence: find three posts on your topic that already worked, and note their structure, not their words.
- Write your raw material by hand — bullet points are fine. Facts, numbers, the moment.
- Ask AI to shape those bullets into the format you chose. Give it two of your old posts as the voice reference.
- Delete the first and last paragraph of what it returns. They're almost always filler.
- Rewrite every sentence that doesn't contain a fact only you have.
- Read it aloud. Anything you'd never say out loud goes.
Phrases to delete on sight
- "In today's fast-paced world…"
- "It's not just X — it's Y."
- "Let that sink in."
- "Here's the thing:" followed by a generality.
- "game-changer", "unlock", "leverage", "journey", "landscape".
- Any three-item list where all three items mean the same thing.
The tone-reference trick
The single biggest improvement in output quality comes from pasting two of your own best posts and asking for the same cadence, sentence length and vocabulary. Voice is imitable; substance isn't. Give the model the voice and keep the substance for yourself.
If you'd be embarrassed for a smart colleague to know AI wrote a line, rewrite that line.
That's the standard worth holding. Viral Whisperer Pro is built for it: research first, tone-matched drafts second, and an editor you're expected to use before anything reaches the queue.
